my route to work

7:03 am7

this is where i walk along daily to reach my office…

Narrow roads lined with little 2-storey brick houses and gardens is common here in this part of France. And it’s just so pretty…  i can’t wait for spring to come when the flowers and trees will finally start to bloom… bbbrrrr it’s cold to walk along here in the morning. I think it’s around 8 or 9 degrees in the early mornings.

And the weekend is here which nearly completes my first week at work! And i’m planning to go further north – Nord Pas de Calais region… Lille, Dunkerque, Calais… let’s see what i’ll be visiting and discovering ;)

at the french-belgium border

6:06 pm1

Madames et Monsiuers… Before it was too long, i was whisked away from Charles de Gaulles along l’autoroute A2 towards north of France. Darlings Sweska is finally in France!!!

I seriously would have loved to write more – french keyboard adventures, working under carriage beside connifer forest amidst the strong northern winds,  speaking in broken french and still getting smiles from the rail station’s info counter etc etc. In an hours’ time i will be catching my first eurail to the world’s most glamorous city – Paris!! So i gotta rush!!!

Au Revoir mes amies…  I’ll write soon with stories written along the Champs-Elysees on the River Seine. The adventure begins now!!

when dreams come true…

8:47 pm13

So there was I…

as a gal of 14 probably, sitting in the canteen during her French class break. Monsieur Lim just went through a passage about technology and the TGV. And she sat there wondering, “Wouldn’t it be really great, if one day I can go to France to work on technology?” Yes i did have that thought once…naaahhh…. technology…. engineer… too complicated stuff for her.

and then again… students exchange programmes during those undergrad days. Wouldn’t it be nice to study and travel for a while in foreign countries and meet people from all around the world. naaahhh totally out of question… too expensive. And of course, then she saw so many graduation trips… wanted to join her friends… well can’t.

But you know, it’s only when you have thought of something, dreamt of something once, that it ever comes true as a wish granted somewhere in the future. And yes,  a decade later now i do have that exact chance. Now that i finally have my Schenghen visa, I’ll be going to France for 3 months to work on automatic controls and communication systems. It’s weird i tell ya. Of all places that i had to start my travel stories, it has to be France. And of all reasons for travelling, it has to be working on engineering. And maybe just maybe, it’s all because of that wishful thinking i once had. Well… that’s when i say keep dreaming coz dreams do come true!

coz dreams do come true!!

tunnel walk

10:15 pm1

Let me count how much i walked today… the whole of sector 1 and 7, including the RT tracks.
= 5.7 km approximately

And these are the times when i reach the final beacon and look back at the long winding tunnel behind me and wonder how i did it all…

one step at a time.

Think i can coin a phrase right now… ‘life’s like a winding long tunnel. You never know what you’ll expect at the next bend.’

*yawn* i’m totally tired out… ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
